Well, I guess I had better post a rememberance for Herman....
Jeff was a very funny dude. He was a good friend of mine and a good friend to many of the BBs. He was always such a good sport those many weekend nights in the wee hours when our crew would visit him after The Roaring 20s (his parents' business) was closed for the night. He reluctantly allowed us to "borrow" many beers from the big commercial coolers in the restaurant kitchen, as we always promised that we would replace them before our next visit...He protested some, but not enough to ruin our late night drinking run! I don't think we ever replaced many of those beers, if any.... Later in the years, I frequented his steak restaurant that he and Regina had on Blanco Road, in front of the their old dance club. He always was glad to see me and would ask about our other friends we both shared.
I am a very good friend of Jeff's brother, Craig, who was a drummer in the school band, as was I back then. I got to know Jeff through the years peripherally, mostly through Craig. However, he and I did have Mrs. Tabor's sophomore English class together, where Jeff and Kenny Hisaw cut up and had us all laughing heartily, all except Mrs. Tabor. I remember Jeff to be a very funny and good hearted guy. I was aware he was ill, but didn't know he had passed until reconnecting recently with Craig. His spirit and great capacity for laughter are the parts about Jeff that will stay with me.
