What happened to Patty?

I haven't seen her since about 1989 when we hung around for a brief time.

I still recall graduation night when she and I took a cruise up to Canyon Lake in my little Triumph Spitfire.

Patti was one of the sweetest girls I ever knew.

Oh, this is just killing my heart.  Patty came to our school in 6th grade and everyone loved her!  Her home was open and welcoming to us all.

This is very sad to hear, I wonder what happened to her? I saw her about 15 years ago, we were both in healthcare, she was an RN. She was in a terrible car accident and I visited her at Warm Springs. She recovered enough to live on but had to retire with disability. I  think she lived in a rural area, near SA.

It looks like she died in 2016.  Here's the obituary I found.

Found this on line:

Patti Eastman of Bulverde, Texas went to her great reward Sunday, January 3, 2016.

Patricia Eileen Dragos Eastman was born on January 24, 1952, at a United States Army hospital in Frankfurt, Germany. There began her love for far flung international travel and service as an exceptionally gifted and hard working registered nurse.

Patti grew up in San Antonio, but spent many summers at the Moak family cattle farm in Mississippi (undoubtedly getting in trouble with her cousins Jacque and Kenny and receiving plenty of "switches" from her Aunt Yvonne) or working at Lake LBJ. She was a graduate of Churchill High School in San Antonio after attending Saint Mary's Hall. Following in the footsteps of her family of three doctors and her mother, who was a surgical nurse, Patti pursued a career in medicine and received her nursing degree from Angelo State University.

After receiving her R.N., Patti quickly became known to San Antonio's physicians as one of the hardest working and most dedicated nurses and worked at a variety of hospitals with specialties in trauma surgery, ICU, and critical care. She earned the nickname "Dr Patti." She lived life without fear and to the fullest and compassionately cared for patients in South Texas and around the World for her entire career.

In 1980, with the growth and expansion of Saudi Arabia and the opening of King Fahad hospital, Patti relocated to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to continue her nursing career as a leading trauma and critical care nurse and eventually as a mentor and teacher to the nursing team. Her work included a tour of duty as a nurse in Yemen for Hunt Oil's early exploration there and as a personal nurse for an African head of state. During her time in the Middle East, Patti traveled extensively throughout Africa and Asia.

In the late 1980's, she returned to the United States to begin a career as a home healthcare nurse for Nurses in Touch. Patti helped form and launch Nurses In Touch in 1990 and is remembered there for providing support, advice, and expert nursing care. Most importantly, throughout the 1990's, she became the marketing face of Nurses In Touch traveling throughout South Texas and its many communities providing nursing care and expanding the reach of the company.

In early 2003, on an early morning drive to work, a life altering automobile accident ended her day-to-day role at Nurses in Touch, but she maintained close contact with her home health family. Eventually, she returned as a professional advisor to its Quality Improvement program in 2012 and 2013.

In 2004, Patti began a new journey in her life when she met and married David Eastman and they became as one in all their goals and dreams. She loved to travel and together they traveled throughout the United States including to Washington, Idaho and Montana. They traveled to Mexico and sailed the Dutch Antilles of Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire. They enjoyed time with friends in Ruidoso, New Mexico and searching for the best boudin in the Louisiana low country and in New Orleans. They took special pride in attending their nephew's weddings in Lincoln, Nebraska (Ty and Jamie), Aspen, Colorado (Bo and Caroline), and Spartanburg, South Carolina (Scott and Mari Caroline). She loved hearing of the high school and college accomplishments of her nephew Scott, and her niece, Hannah. She was the loudest fan at the TCA state championship football game, even when Scott was on the sidelines, and when Bruiser was on the field. She was proud of Hannah's on-going accomplishments at the University of Texas. David and Patti delighted in special visits to extended family including to Greenville, South Carolina to visit step-mother, Hilda Dragos, and seeing the sites of the Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina and Charleston South Carolina, and the Eastman family farm in New Hampshire including all the New England states, Niagara Falls, and Canada. They were looking forward to many more trips.

At home on their small acreage, (appropriately named the "Oasis"), Patti was nothing less than an amazing homemaker, decorator, landscaper, and gardener, and a famed "poultry whisperer," raising a menagerie of exotic chickens, peacocks, wild turkey, ducks, and geese. One of her favorite gifts to give friends were the colorful eggs from her free range exotic hens. She constructed a very large Koi Pond and loved to grow water lilies to shade the Koi collected and rescued from friends. All of her Doolittle-like animals knew her voice. The Koi responded when she pounded rocks on the side of the pond. The Oasis was home to a famously-large herd of hand-fed pet whitetail deer, which always keep her entertained. Along with their barnyard friends, the Oasis was always full of Yard Art.

Patti was a leader and lover of people and easily one of the hardest-working people any have ever met. In retirement, Patti continued her ethic of hard work and service. She was an active volunteer at the Bulverde Activity Center, member of the Gardening Volunteers of South Texas, and the Water Garden Club of South Texas. Patti was loved by all and always had a smile and positive attitude. She could make fast friends with almost anyone and always put others before herself. She will be dearly missed and there is a giant hole in the universe that was filled with her love. We miss you, Patti.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ilyene and Harold Beckwith; and Joseph Dragos.

She is survived by her husband, David Eastman; stepdaughter, Lindsey Eastman; siblings, Van Beckwith and wife, Tracey, Isabelle Badouh, and Jane England and husband, Neal; stepmother, Hilda Dragos; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
